My accomplishments as a dog trainer have been varied. I have trained more than 3,000 dog/handler teams over the past 25 years. I have a strong, in-depth background of experience that was rooted in Schutzhund and learning canine behavior. My experience and knowledge quickly expanded to include in Puppy Testing, Obedience, Agility, and Conformation.
I was involved with Therapy Dogs for 7 years and was on the Board of Directors and Past President of the local animal shelter.
I've been providing Obedience classes since 1985 from Beginners to Utility as well as providing Tracking classes since 1985. In 2000 I started providing Agility classes. Many of my students have gone on to earn the highest titles in these three dog sports.
I have been evaluating and assisting the US Customs dog handler for the last few years, and have recently been involved in evaluating and assisting the local law enforcement drug dog and protection/tracking dog teams. I am currently training a pup to be future working partners with the State Troopers. He and his handler are learning obedience, protection and tracking.
I present workshops in the US and Canada which provide dog trainers of all types with opportunities to observe and experiment with different perspectives on dogs and dog training. I am well respected for my holistic, relationship-based approach to dogs as well as to their handlers. No matter what the audience is comprised of; companion dog owners or experienced trainers, my broad knowledge, common sense and humor offer exciting, practical information and training techniques that will enhance any dog/human relationship.
I currently reside with my 14 year old Belgian Sheepdog, Indiana, a 5 year old Belgian Sheepdog, Thunder Paws, and a 10 year old Golden Retriever, Luther. He is a retired Narcotics Detector Dog from Customs and Border Protection.
