| Now retired from judging tracking and obedience, and from teaching tracking, I began my career in purebred dogs in 1964 and have since amassed 115 AKC obedience, tracking, agility and herding titles. Four dogs in this group earned both OTCH and TDX and one was the first herding breed triple champion (CH/OTCH/HC). I've owned and titled Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Papillon, Sheltie, Golden and Border Collies and have earned 12 UD titles. In addition to being a long-time regular columnist for Front & Finish (and its predecessor, Canine Training Chips) I have contributed to the AKC Gazette, produced daily newsletters for both Denver-held AKC National Agility Championships, for eight years edited Borderlines, a 60-page bi-monthly magazine for the Border Collie Society of America, and for 35 years wrote the newsletter for Mountain States DTC. During my 40-year membership in Mountain States DTC, I have chaired numerous committees, and currently am club president, chair for judges' hospitality, and membership and co-chair of our agility trial. I have been president of Colorado Stockdog Fanciers, a founding member of Denver Foothills Tracking Association, founder and first chairman of Colorado Canine Search Group. My current family (canine) includes four Border Collies -- 12-year-old Ch/OTCH/HC Highland's Time Bomb UDX TD MX MXJ, 5-year-old HiEyeQ Lickety Split AX AXJ HSbs HIas, 4-year-old Peak's Nick CDX MX AXJ AAD HIbs HXas HTDIII, and Nicky's puppy, Peak's Hot Wired. There are four cats and 40 sheep to round out the picture. For a human family, I have two living children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A 17-year-old grandchild lives with me now. I teach competition obedience and have a wonderful group of students of whom I am exceedingly proud. Life is good! |
