Front & Finish® Awards of Excellence (FFX)

Theory

In education students receive diplomas to indicate successful completion of standards set by their institutions of learning. Among those graduating some students receive acknowledgements for meeting standards that go above and beyond.  This is the theory behind the Front & Finish® Awards of Excellence (FFX). While a title can be considered similar to a diploma, the FFX is intended to recognize a higher level of accomplishment.

If exhibitors desire, they can apply to use the "FFX" designation in their dog's suffix titles.  We recommend placing the FFX acronym last in their list of titles and signify "FFX~O" for the obedience award and "FFX~A" for agility awards. Multiple award winners in a category should use a number following the acronym (as in FFX~O3, or FFX~A4, etc.)

Requirements

Due to differences and amendments that occur across registries, the FFX application is periodically updated to keep abreast of the times.  Applications are available for the American Kennel Club (Agility & Obedience), Australian Shepherd Club of America (Agility & Obedience), Bermuda Kennel Club (Obedience), Canadian Kennel Club (Agility & Obedience), North American Dog Agility Council (Agility), and the United Kennel Club (Agility & Obedience).

FFX Obedience Requirements

The FFX Obedience Award (FFX~O) is offered for exhibitors earning an obedience title in their first three consecutive classes with scores of 195 or better, or who earn the CD, CDX, and UD titles within a twelve month time period.

FFX Agility Requirements

American Kennel Club & Canadian Kennel Club
FFX Agility Award (FFX~A) will be awarded to exhibitors who attain an agility title in the first three consecutive classes with clear rounds (scores of 100), or who earn all 8 Agility titles within a 24 month period of time.

Australian Shepherd Club of America
ASCA members applying for this award must achieve attainment of a Certification Class agility title (either at the Novice, Open, or Elite level) in the first three consecutive runs with perfect scores of 10 points. Platinum awards may also be presented for those achieving any 12 Agility titles in a 24 month time period.

North American Dog Agility Council
NADAC members applying for this award must achieve attainment of a Regular class agility title (either at the Novice, Open, or Elite level) in the first three consecutive runs with perfect scores of 10 points. Platinum awards may also be presented for those achieving any 12 Agility titles in a 24 month time period.

United Kennel Club
Attainment of an Agility I (UAGI) or Agility II (UAGII) title in the first three consecutive classes with scores of 200, or attainment of 4 Agility titles (UAGI, UAGII, UACH, UACHX) within a 30 month time period.

Retroactivity

At one time Front & Finish offered FFX platinum and gold awards based on separate levels of accomplishment.  These have been combined to offer a higher, more distinguished level of recognition.  Previous title holders may retain their original title designations or they may simply choose to use FFXO (Obedience) or FFXA (Agility) in combination with numbers to signify the total number of awards earned in each category.  If you are a title holder and have questions we can investigate your records to check that everything is in order.

Appreciation

We offer genuine appreciation to Ms. Jenee Staltzer of Marshalltown, IA for initially bringing the FFX idea to us. In addition, we are earnestly grateful to all individuals who have offered suggestions and comments regarding the formation of this award. We remain highly interested in all thoughts & suggestions to further improve the FFX! Please submit your opinions to dogs@frontandfinish.com.

Recognition

Certification
Applicants of the FFX may elect to receive a personalized certificate indicating their accomplishment.  The certificate is mailed along with a letter of recognition in an attractive folder for safekeeping.  Optionally applicants may choose to receive an emailed notification of their acceptance.

Annual Listing
We also provide additional acknowledgment of all FFX recipients by publishing an annual listing of honorees in an annual feature published in Front & Finish®, The Dog Trainer's News.
