Front & Finish® Writer's Guidelines
Amended February 14, 2017

Purpose
This information explains our guidelines when submitting copy for publication.  We ask that you adhere to the following criteria to ensure publication of your article as expected.

Regular Contributor or Single Submissions
We'd love to welcome you as a regular contributor to Front & Finish® LLC.  Front & Finish® is primarily focused on obedience training but we publish articles on all on all canine events since since our subscribers participate in a variety of endeavors.
As the voice of canine obedience we also welcome single submissions.  Email your article ideas to us and we'll be sure to follow up!

Space
Articles can be of any length.  Some writers prefer to break longer pieces into segments and run them as a series.

Submission Deadline
The submission deadline for copy is the fifteenth day of the month prior to the issue publication month (e.g. March issue deadline is February 15th).  We always attempt to include late or time sensitive material but it helps if you can give us notice.  Please email dogs@frontandfinish.com if you need to request a late submission date.

Copy Submission
We prefer submissions in Microsoft Word or Apple Pages.  Email your copy to us and please enter "ARTICLE" in the subject line.  Snail-mail hard copy to Front & Finish, 2310 US Hwy 150 N, Wataga, IL 61488-9520.

Internet Links
When adding links to resources on the Internet include the complete URL in your copy.  For example, to include a link to the Front & Finish website you should write it as http://frontandfinish.com and not simply www.frontandfinish.com or frontandfinish.com. Including the complete link helps our software tag the URL so that it is "active" for readers to click on.

Pre-published & Copyrighted Material
Written permission to publish copyrighted or other "pre-published" material must be included with your copy. Copyrighted and pre-published material must credit the author, the publication, and the date of publication.

We operate under the policy that authors retain rights to their own intellectual material.  We appreciate credit for original publication when material from Front & Finish is republished elsewhere.  Your credit statement should include a short statement, our website link, and the issue date (e.g. Originally published in Front & Finish, Jfrontandfinish.com, July 2016).

Corrections
When making corrections please update your entire article and resubmit it to dogs@frontandfinish.com.  Emailing instructions to correct content within copy can get tricky and it leads to errors we want to avoid.

Multimedia & Graphic Content
We sincerely encourage the submission of photographs, artwork, and multimedia to emphasize articles!  All graphic content must include a credit to the photographer or artist.  We try to follow suggestions for placement of images in copy when writers copy the pictures directly into their articles, or indicate their placement using Bold Letters On Separate Lines.  For Example:

INSERT PICTURE “X” HERE
CAPTION: A Compassionate Companion

When possible submit high quality digital images at a minimum of 300 ppi (pixels per inch) for reproduction.   Note that some images and multimedia are too large in file size to email.  If email won't transmit your files write us and we'll return a link to directly upload this material.  If your video is already posted on YouTube just send the URL link with your copy and we'll take care of the rest.

Notice
If you are a regular contributor please let us know if you won't be submitting copy for a particular issue.

Appreciation
Our regular contributors give much to the sport and we want to return the favor.  If you have a personal venture or simply want to help your club, please realize we'd love to include complimentary advertising for you.  Email us and we’ll follow with details.
