Submission & Writer's Guidelines Policy

Front & Finish™ welcomes contributions from exhibitors, trainers, judges, and enthusiasts. These guidelines outline editorial expectations, submission procedures, and publication policies.
Submission of material constitutes agreement with these guidelines and with the Front & Finish™ Terms of Service.
1. Editorial Purpose
Front & Finish™ publishes material primarily relating to canine obedience training and competition, as well as other canine performance events and topics of interest to our readership.
We welcome both regular contributors and single submissions.
2. Editorial Discretion
All submissions are subject to editorial review. Submission does not guarantee publication.
Front & Finish™ reserves the right to:
• edit for clarity, style, length, or format
• determine publication timing
• publish in whole, in part, or not at all
• archive published material indefinitely
• use accepted material in promotional or related editorial contexts
3. Article Length and Format
Articles may be of any length. Longer works may be published as a series at editorial discretion.
Preferred submission formats include:
• Microsoft Word
• Apple Pages
• Plain text
When submitting by email, please include “ARTICLE” in the subject line.
4. Submission Deadlines
The standard deadline for publication consideration is the 15th day of the month preceding the issue month (e.g., February 15 for the March issue).
Late submissions may be considered but are not guaranteed placement. Contributors should notify the editorial office if additional time is required.
5. Previously Published or Copyrighted Material
Contributors must obtain written permission for any previously published or copyrighted material submitted for publication.
Authors retain copyright to their original work unless otherwise agreed.
Front & Finish™ appreciates acknowledgment when material originally published in the magazine is republished elsewhere. Suggested credit format:
Originally published in Front & Finish™, frontandfinish.com, [issue month/year].
6. Photographs and Multimedia
Contributors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any submitted photographs, artwork, or multimedia.
Submission of such material constitutes representation that the contributor has obtained all necessary rights.
Photographer or artist credit should be clearly provided where applicable.
Front & Finish™ may determine placement of images and may use submitted images in future editorial, archival, or promotional contexts consistent with publication purposes.
High-quality digital images are preferred. When large files cannot be transmitted by email, alternative upload arrangements may be provided.
7. Internet Links
When including references to online resources, contributors should provide the complete URL (e.g., https://frontandfinish.com) to ensure proper formatting and accessibility.
8. Corrections and Revisions
If revisions are necessary after submission, contributors should resubmit the complete updated article rather than providing partial correction instructions.
9. Publication and Archival Rights
By submitting material, contributors grant Front & Finish™ a non-exclusive right to publish, archive, and distribute the work in digital and related publication formats.
Published material may remain part of permanent editorial archives.
10. Contributor Conduct
Submissions must not contain:
• defamatory or unlawful content
• material infringing third-party rights
• knowingly false or misleading information
11. Contributor Communication
Regular contributors are encouraged to notify the editorial office if they anticipate missing a scheduled submission.
